Due to some (in hindsight) poor timing, we would like to give you some additional time to work on your HW 2 submissions so you can make corrections based upon feedback from the midterm.
As announced today in class, the new due date for HW 2 is Wed, April 1, 5 pm EST.
If you are happy with your HW 2 solution you don’t need to do anything. If you decide to improve it based on feedback from the midterm, please submit the new file on the course iSite page in the HW 2 dropbox. See HW 2 instructions for detail. We suggest you add “new” to your filename.
HW 3 is due this Wednesday as planned. HW 4 will be handed out this week, and is now due on Wed, April 15, 5 pm EST.
As always, the detailed HW schedule is online on the course schedule page.
Example solutions for HW 1 and the midterm by students in the class are now online on the homework page. Please also look at the solutions key for the midterm at the beginning of the lecture 12 slides.
Congrats to Karin, Taro, Michelle, and Brett for doing such great jobs.
Updated versions of the .xls and .csv files of the class survey are now available on the downloads page.
Homework 1 grades were posted last week on the iSite page. There should be a comment for when you log in under the HW1 dropbox containing comments and your grade. If you have any questions, please email the TF that posted your grade.
We updated HW 1, Part 2, to clarify the assignment:
Updated: You must gather text from at least 5 different URLs. These can be multiple pages of data from a single website or they can be from several different websites altogether. More is encouraged, but let this be a minimum. The point is to equip you to scrape any website for data.
Feel free to ask the TFs if you have specific questions about this.
