04/05/09 14:51
We put some excellent example solutions for HW 3 and HW 4 online. Congratulations to Jason Gao (HW 3), Benjamin Kies (HW 4), and Yuhki Yamashita (HW 4) for a job well done!
Bang Wong’s slides and videos are now also online on the lectures page.
HW 2 NEW due date
16/03/09 20:15
Due to some (in hindsight) poor timing, we would like to give you some additional time to work on your HW 2 submissions so you can make corrections based upon feedback from the midterm.
As announced today in class, the new due date for HW 2 is Wed, April 1, 5 pm EST.
If you are happy with your HW 2 solution you don’t need to do anything. If you decide to improve it based on feedback from the midterm, please submit the new file on the course iSite page in the HW 2 dropbox. See HW 2 instructions for detail. We suggest you add “new” to your filename.
HW 3 is due this Wednesday as planned. HW 4 will be handed out this week, and is now due on Wed, April 15, 5 pm EST.
As always, the detailed HW schedule is online on the course schedule page.

Updated HW 1, Part 2
10/02/09 22:15
We updated HW 1, Part 2, to clarify the assignment:
Updated: You must gather text from at least 5 different URLs. These can be multiple pages of data from a single website or they can be from several different websites altogether. More is encouraged, but let this be a minimum. The point is to equip you to scrape any website for data.
Feel free to ask the TFs if you have specific questions about this.
